Welcome to the Forum. This is where we talk God and how to better our relationship with God and live a Glorious life in this end - time even to the end. May God help us all in Jesus Name.

I was home one day and so I began to imagine myself preaching to people and in the course of doing so, God gave me a message which I titled Lights Of The World. I got an in-depth understanding of Genesis 1 vs. 1 - 3. Lets read it -

   'Genesis 1-3New International Version (NIV)

The Beginning

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.
And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness. God called the light “day,” and the darkness he called “night.” And there was evening, and there was morning—the first day'
Now, this is a common scripture and it can be interpreted in diverse ways but God gave me a deeper meaning. After God created the Heaven and the Earth, the earth was 'formless and empty'. And the Spirit of God 'was hovering over the waters'. And then, He said - 'Let there be light'.
I want us to understand this very well. The first thing God did before He could continue creation was to create light. Why? This emphasizes the need for light. God's Spirit could have hovered over the waters and He could have continued creation. He could have started making the animals, trees etc. but He didn't. He instead commanded
'Let there be light' and there was light'
Not only did He create light, He did something very important. He separated the light from the darkness. But He could have simply continued creation after light had come but No. He had to separate light from the darkness. This shows that God hates darkness and God didn't do anything when there was darkness until light came and not only did light come, He separated, He removed, He brought apart light from darkness.
The children of God are lights of the world. Jesus told us this in Matthew 5 vs. 14 - 16
14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.
15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.
16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

This has given us a consciousness and knowledge that we are the lights of the world and He also commanded us to shine our lights before men for all Glory to be unto God.

However, it also indicates that if you are in darkness, God will do nothing with your life. God hates darkness. God cannot dwell in darkness. And so God cannot operate in darkness. What is darkness here? Sin is darkness. You cannot be a lukewarm person. You cannot be in light and darkness at the same time. Its not possible. Its either you are in light or you are in darkness. There is nothing like partial light and darkness. That balls down to self deceit.

If you are in light, you will obey God absolutely. You will do His will in entirety. You cannot be in light and be doing the things of the world. The people of the world are in total darkness and that's why they have been blind folded and cannot see. So, they cannot understand the light and how it operates. John 1 vs. 5 says

'And the Light shineth in darkness, and the darkness comprehended it not.'

So, you cannot blame them when they laugh and scorn you for doing the right thing and doing God's will. It is because they are blind. They don't understand light and cannot comprehend it. God has brought us out of darkness in to His marvellous light and so we must shine forth. We must not hide our Light so that they may see our good works and Glorify God in Heaven. By shinning your light, it indicates telling others about Christ.

If you are still in sin, you are not in light and God cannot commence creation in your life. If you are doing small sin and small good things, you are still in darkness and God cannot do anything in your life. You have to leave the darkness completely, absolutely and entirely. You have to separate yourself from darkness so that God can continue or commence creation in your life. So that you can fulfil God's purpose for your life.

The same way God separated light from darkness is the same way He will separate His children (The lights of the world) from the children of the devil (The darkness of the world) when Jesus shall return. So, check your life if you are still in light. If not, rededicate yourself to Him

Lord, fill me with your light.
Lord, bring me out of darkness into your marvellous light
Lord, help me to dwell in your light completely
Lord, give me the Grace to shine my light unto the world in Jesus Name.
