BRING BACK THE HOLYSPIRIT

Taking a stroll down memory lane, especially the times of old, there was a great emphasis on the need for the early church to be equipped and filled with the Holy Ghost. Jesus showed the need and importance of the Holy Spirit and that was why He told them He was going to leave for the Holy Spirit to come.

John 16 vs. 17

Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.

Jesus disciples were never the same again after they got filled with the Holy Ghost. The seventy were never the same again after they got filled with the Holy Ghost. The Church was never the same again after they got filled with the Holy Ghost.
There are a lot of things the Holy Spirit did for the New Testament Believers.

One, He changed them on the inside. They were never the same again after they got the infilling of the Holy Ghost. Their life became different. It seems the mandate Jesus gave them in Matthew 28 vs. 19 - 20 now made more sense to them. Indeed, it made more sense to them after the coming of the Holy Spirit.

Matthew 28 vs. 19 - 20

19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

Two, they had new tongues. They were no longer communicating on the natural level, they were able to communicate with divine tongues. Not only did they get infested with new tongues, they had another gift - the gift of interpretation. When they spoke in tongues, people from different part of the world could pick their own language and get an understanding. Their ears were opened.

Acts 2 vs. 4

And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

Three, they were made bold. You cannot have the Holy Spirit and remain the same. He will take care of all your faults if you allow Him to. Some of the disciples were naturally shy but the Holy Spirit took care of that. They began to preach the word with undiluted boldness. Even when they stood before the authority, they werent scared. They still spoke out and stood for the truth.

Acts 4 vs. 31

After they had prayed, their meeting place was shaken, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly.

Four, they were energized. They suffered a lot of persecution. The church scattered and the disciples had to run for their lives. As they ran, they were able to spread and continuously preach the gospel. Where did they get that lifting and energy from? Who was encouraging them? They were energized by the Holy Ghost.

Acts 7 vs. 55

But Stephen, full of the Holy Spirit, looked intently into heaven and saw the glory of God and Jesus standing at the right hand of God.

Five, they were comforted. Even Jesus called the Holy Ghost, the comforter. When things werent looking like it, when they went to some places and were bashed by the people, when the authority insulted and chained them, when their lives were threatened, when they were even caught and were at the verge of death, they were still comforted. By who? The Holy Ghost! They never gave up because like Apostle Paul said, it was a fight to finish and indeed, a fight to win.

2Corinthians 1 vs. 4

Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.

There are indeed so many other things the Holy Ghost did for the New Testamental Believers. They really needed Him for the kind of assignment they were doing. In prayers, He helped them as well. This is why they could pray for hours and not get bored or tired. This is why they could speak in tongues for hours and not get tired. He strengthened them indeed. The Holy Spirit brought a revival in the early church. It was never the same again.

But what is happening today? Many churches are no longer emphasizing the need for the Holy Ghost. The infilling of the Holy Ghost should be the next thing immediately after being born again and baptized by immersion. But now you will see some christians who have been born again for years and dont still have the Holy Spirit. Some even claim they have but they really dont know Him or arent allowing Him to manifest in their lives.

We really need to bring back the Holy Spirit. You cannot work and walk this Christian race successfully without the Holy Ghost. You will be discouraged! People will easily influence you by the words of their mouth. You will be tossed around by the wind of docrines and confusion. Your life might not really be a testimony and reflection of Christ.

All those yearnings to pray for long and wait on God would be futile. Your evangelism life would be at its worse. You will still be complaining of being shy. Your life would just be there like one cold Christian.

The Holy Spirit communicates with us and tells us things. He helps with out discerning.  He will tell us what to say and what we ought not to say

Luke 12:12

For the Holy Ghost shall teach you in the same hour what you ought to say.

In this end time, every christian needs to be hot for God. Every Christian needs the Holy Ghost. He is a very important person in the trinity. If it werent so, Jesus wouldnt have gone. Do you have the Holy Spirit already or have you made Him defunct in your life? We all need to get tired of our present level and press on for the higher ground and higher price.

Bring back the Holy Spirit into our lives, into our Churches, into Nigeria and the world at large.

Have you been baptized in the Holy Ghost?

Amen! If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the spirit. Without the Holy Spirit, the church can not function. Thanks for this important reminder.
