Image result for you are still secured in Christ

When we give our lives to Christ for the first time, we always seem so on fire for God - a fire we believe no one can dare quench. But the first time we commit a sin after that, we begin to feel scared like something is wrong. Some take a bold step and press on while others begin to relax and think

'Perhaps, I'm never going to be so hot for Christ like others'

People pass through different things in their christian race. Most end up being discouraged while others forge ahead. Sometimes, when evangelism is being done, we hear things like,

'See, all these fire upon fire you people are doing for God now, I have done it before so go and preach to someone who doesn't know God at all'

One may begin to wonder why they are now very relaxed if they have once being hot for God. The problem is that many begin to see God with a transcedent view when sin begins to creep in and they really do not undertsand many things about God. Infact, they don't understand the littlest things. It is pertinent that new converts are taught the little things I will be sharing with you today so that you won't become an ex-champion or ex-christian when sin comes knocking.

The FIRST thing to know as a Christian is that God loves you! It is because many Christians do not really understand and grasp the love of God, that's why they end up being victims. God's love encompasses everything. He loved you while you were still a sinner and still loves you even now that you are saved. And if you have walked out of the faith, His love isn't dead. He really still loves you and you have all the chances in the world to come back because there is no repentance after death. Since you are still alive, there is great hope. His love for you is immense and secured!

Romans 5 vs. 8

But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

The SECOND thing to know as a Christian is after your salvation, sin and temptation will always come knocking. This is where so many christians get it wrong. They feel since they are saved, they are so free from sin. That's the lie the devil tries to sell to them. So when sin and temptation comes, they become very worried and feel dejected. Lecrae, an American Gospel Musician wrote something that struck me and gave me new understanding. He said - the fact that you are born again doesn't make you free from temptations. What makes you different from the unsaved is that you have a person JESUS who can help you overcome every form of temptation that comes your way. So you have to understand that when you are born again and tempatations come your way, it's not a problem. The only problem is when you succumb to such temptation. You now have JESUS who can defeat and make you victorious. Now, when you make a mistake, that's not a redflag. It is when you keep on repeating such a mistake that a redflag waves. What you have to do in such a situation is to seek God's mercy and be determined never to repeat such.

Psalm 145 vs. 14

The LORD helps the fallen and lifts those bent beneath their loads.

The THIRD thing to know as a Christian is that you are still secured as long as you are alive. It is good news! Now, even if you have looked away from God and you have intentionally done so many bad things, my dear, don't let the devil deceive you, God can still take you back. You are not too dirty to be cleaned. Why then did Jesus die? His blood washed away EVERY sin. The foolish thing would be if you overlook God's Grace and calling and keep on with your sin, the end could be destruction. So even if you were once a worker in church and you sinned and now you think you are the worst person on earth, God still loves you. Run back to Him like the prodigal child. His arms are forever open AS LONG AS you are still alive! Once you are gone, it would be too late if you don't give Him a chance now. No one knows tomorrow.

Romans 6 vs. 1 - 2

What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? By no means! How can we who died to sin live in it any longer?

So what is in your past? Who were you before and who are you now? Have you strayed away or you are about to stray? Don't let the devil deceive you. You are still secured AS LONG AS you are still alive. Even when the people of Jerusalem sinned in Isaiah, God punished them but still referred to them as His people. You are still God's own if you choose to be.

However, the fact that you are still secured doesn't mean you are saved. Secured in this context means your chances of coming back to God and being His and being used by Him is still high and secured since you are still alive.  But if you haven't utilised that chance, you are yet to be saved. You salvation is not guaranteed till you say YES to Christ.
